Manual

A workflow with a manual trigger runs when you start it: in the editor with Run (F5) or in the workflow list with Start. It suits tasks someone starts when needed, and trying out new actions.

  • Start in the workflow list fires one run with the workflow’s InitialData. The workflow is then shown as active until you stop it.
  • With "Autostart": true a manual workflow runs once on every start of RUNOS.
  • Run in the editor can use a parameter set. This starts the same workflow with different data.

The trigger’s result contains only the point in time ({{Trigger.Response.Results.TriggeredAt}}).

"Trigger": {
"Type": "Manual",
"Name": "ManualStart",
"Parameters": {
"AllowOnlyOnce": true
}
}
Parameter Default Meaning
AllowOnlyOnce true true: fires only on the first start. Starting again from the list fires only after the workflow was saved or RUNOS restarted. false: every start fires a run (stop and start again).

In the diagram of the workflow editor the trigger has the switch Start only once (AllowOnlyOnce). Parameters the form does not know are listed under Other parameters.

A circular to all customers from a CSV file, started when needed:

{
"Name": "Circular",
"Autostart": false,
"InitialData": { "Subject": "New opening hours" },
"Trigger": { "Type": "Manual", "Name": "Start", "Parameters": { "AllowOnlyOnce": false } },
"Actions": [
{
"Type": "Loop",
"Name": "EachCustomer",
"Parameters": {
"Items": "C:\\RUNOS\\Data\\customers.csv",
"DelayMs": 1000,
"Do": [
{ "Type": "SMTP", "Name": "Write", "Parameters": { "To": "{{item.Email}}", "Subject": "{{InitialData.Subject}}", "Body": "…" } }
]
}
}
]
}

To test with a different subject, create a parameter set with the arrow next to Run, for example { "Subject": "TEST" }.
